Threads of Time

The tapestries known as the Threads of Time can be viewed at the Council Office, Recreation Ground Road, Sprowston NR7 8EW during office opening hours.

To celebrate the start of the new Millennium, a history of Sprowston was designed on similar lines to the Bayeux tapestry. Through the auspices of Sprowston Heritage, and as a learning community, four beautifully crafted panels, known as the “Threads of Time”, was created in fabric and thread. These embroideries cover both local and national events from prehistory to 2000 with each panel illustrating specific matters of interest from stag hunting in the forests that once covered present day Sprowston and Thorpe St Andrew through to modernisation as we now know it.
